A blank canvas with additions to the existing hard landscaping to provide better pedestrian and vehicular access. The garden areas wrapped round the house and extended into what once was a paddock. With a new lawn layout and planting to soften the boundaries this scheme makes the most of the space within the plot. Planting was included to provide colour, texture and structure all year round with a more formal approach used near the house, becoming free flowing and naturalistic as the garden flows into the field and beyond.

“We asked Alex to come and help us transform the post build wasteland that was all that was left of our garden which had reduced the whole area to compacted clay from all the heavy machinery. He worked with us on a design carefully incorporating some plants we wanted and gently persuading us that some others might be less suitable and introducing us to some new ideas. The result is just what we wanted and we now have flowers from February through to the end of November and are incredibly happy.
