Staplefield Farm, Steyning

A garden created on a sloping site to provide more practical living space for the clients. The existing layout and planting was tired and not suitable for use, existing rockeries were taken out and replaced with sleeper walls and terraced planting areas with the rockery stone re used in the woodland area at the bottom of the garden.

“My wife and I needed to give over a year’s notice re our decision to retire in September 2020 and in doing so we decided one of our retirement presents to each other was to have our garden redesigned in anticipation for our actually taking up residence and making our home all we wanted it to be .

From the moment we first met Alex Bell we were convinced we had found the right person to take on the project . His advice and design work met with our full approval and was extremely professionally presented both on paper and in person. It was unfortunate that all the COVID 19 restrictions etc descended on us just after we pressed the button to go ahead with the project but aside some understandable delays everything went ahead very smoothly. It was soon apparent that Alex’s plans were indeed everything he had promised and the transformation in our garden was significant to say the least .

A year on our garden is increasingly more established and is much admired by all the increasing number of visitors we enjoy welcoming to The Buttery .

Alex is to be very highly recommended. “
