The Old Vicarage – The Street, Washington, Sussex, RH20 4AS

Gardens of 3½ acres set around 1832 Regency house (not open). The front, formally laid out with topiary, wide lawn, mixed border, and contemporary water sculpture. The rear, features new and mature trees from C19, herbaceous borders, water garden and stunning uninterrupted views of the North Downs. Also, Japanese garden with waterfall and pond, a large copse, stream and treehouse. Architectural stumpery new for 2017 and 2000 tulips have been planted for spring.

Open Sunday 15 October (10.30am – 3pm). Admission £5.00, children free. Home-made teas.

Winkworth Arboretum – Hascombe Road, Godalming, Surrey, GU8 4AD

This dramatic hillside Arboretum perfectly demonstrates what Dr Fox, the Arboretum’s creator, described as ‘using trees and shrubs to paint a picture’. Impressive displays of daffodils, bluebells and azaleas await in spring. Picnic by the lake in summer. Don’t miss the stunning autumnal display created by maples, cherries and tupelos. Guided walk with member of the garden team.

Borde Hill Garden – Borde Hill Lane, Haywards Heath, Sussex, RH16 1XP

One of the original 1927 gardens, now celebrating 90 yrs association with the NGS.  Rare plants and stunning landscapes make Borde Hill Garden the perfect day out for horticulture enthusiasts, families and those who love beautiful countryside. Enjoy tranquil outdoor ‘rooms’, incl Rose and Italian gardens, champion trees, woodland walks, playground, picnic areas, home-cooked food and events throughout the open season.
